Volunteer Opportunities

Classroom Volunteer

QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to maintain confidentiality, interact positively with others and work with children and adults. Ability to maintain composure in a high stress environment. Willingness to learn new ways to work with adults and children. Dependability and flexibility.

RESPONSIBLE TO: Classroom Teachers

STATUS: Unpaid

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist classroom Teachers with children during routines and activities
  • Assist Classroom Teachers with classroom tasks.
  • Participate in conversations with children while playing and during mealtimes.
  • Adhere to EES Policies and Procedures, Head Start Performance Standards, Vermont Early Learning Standards, NAEYC Standards for Early Childhood Programs, and Vermont Regulations for Licensed Early Childhood Programs.
  • Assure safety of all children in care at all times.
  • Maintain safety, rights and confidentiality of program participants and colleagues at all times.
  • Help maintain classroom health and safety standards.
  • Regular attendance

Event Volunteer

QUALIFICATIONS: Ability to interact positively with others and work with children and adults. Dependability and flexibility.

STATUS: Unpaid

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in organizing planned events.
  • Assist program with putting together event materials.
  • Assist in promoting event.
  • Participate in event activities on the day of the event.

Group Facilitation Volunteer

QUALIFICATIONS: The desire to share your expertise on a particular subject or lead a support group. Ability to facilitate a group of people for a workshop, support group, or skills based class. Experience in group facilitation or teaching required.

STATUS: Unpaid

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Facilitate or co-facilitate a group.
  • Assist in planning and promoting group.
  • Assist in organizing any materials needed.
  • Assist in creating a structure or guidelines for group.

Clerical Support Volunteer

QUALIFICATIONS: The ability to follow directions, and work independently.

STATUS: Unpaid

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist program with assembling program materials (such as resource bags and promotional items).
  • Assist with promotional materials (creating and sharing).
  • Assist with resource information (printing, folding, cutting, etc.).
